On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by your African Hartebeest Safaris guide and transferred eastward to Akagera National Park—through picturesque Rwandan countryside (about 4–5 hours). Settle into your luxury safari lodge and enjoy an afternoon boat safari on Lake Ihema, spotting hippos, crocodiles, and an impressive array of bird species. Dinner and overnight in the park.

Akagera Game Lodge (or similar luxury camp)
Before sunrise, begin your first full day of game viewing through the diverse ecosystems of Akagera—from open savannahs to woodlands and wetlands. With expert guiding, you’ll seek out elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, buffalo, leopards, and many more. Return for lunch and continue with an afternoon game drive or optional walking safari. Evening sunset and dinner at the lodge.

After breakfast, leave the park for Kigali, stopping en route for a guided city tour including the Kigali Genocide Memorial and craft markets. Continue north through Rwanda’s rolling hills to Musanze, gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Arrive by late afternoon in time for check-in and a safari briefing. Dinner and overnight near the volcanoes.
After breakfast, leave the park for Kigali, stopping en route for a guided city tour including the Kigali Genocide Memorial and craft markets.

Rise early and enjoy breakfast before heading to the Volcanoes Park HQ for a briefing. Then trek into the lush bamboo and montane forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The hike may take between 2–6 hours depending on their location but rewarding you with a magical one-hour encounter. Return to your lodge for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation or optional cultural visit to Iby’Iwacu Village.
