Day 1 : Arrival in Nairobi

Upon your arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be transferred to the Ole Sereni Hotel, a luxurious haven offering stunning views of Nairobi National Park. Enjoy the comfort of your room and unwind after your journey. If time permits, explore the hotel’s amenities, including the rooftop bar and pool, or take a short trip to the nearby attractions like the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust or the Giraffe Centre. In the evening, savor a delectable dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, preparing yourself for the adventures ahead.

After a hearty breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its stunning birdlife and diverse wildlife. Upon arrival, check into the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge, perched on a hill with panoramic views of the park and lake. After settling in, embark on an afternoon game drive to witness the park’s famous flamingos, rhinos, and other wildlife. Return to the lodge for a relaxing evening, enjoying a delicious dinner while gazing at the beautiful sunset over the lake.

Following breakfast, journey to the iconic Maasai Mara, arriving at the Mara River Camp, your home for the next two nights. This camp, situated along the Mara River, offers an authentic safari experience with opportunities to observe wildlife right from your doorstep. After checking in, head out for an afternoon game drive in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, where you can witness the abundant wildlife, including the Big Five. As the sun sets, return to camp for dinner and a night under the African stars.

Rise early for a morning game drive in the Maasai Mara, where the cool morning air provides a perfect setting to see predators like lions and leopards on the prowl. Return to the camp for breakfast, followed by some leisure time or optional activities such as a guided nature walk or a visit to a local Maasai village. (Alternatively, you can go for a full day game drive) In the afternoon, set out once more for a game drive, perhaps witnessing the dramatic river crossings if your visit coincides with the Great Migration. End the day with a sumptuous dinner at the camp, sharing stories of your safari adventures.

On your final morning, enjoy a relaxed breakfast at the camp before bidding farewell to the Maasai Mara. Begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in time for your onward travel plans. You’ll be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for your departure, carrying with you unforgettable memories of your Kenyan safari adventure.

Our holiday was coordinated by Beverly Akivaga. This lady is a legend, she can do it all. When my wife and I were hoping to combine a business trip with a 30th Anniversary holiday through Kenya (the place of our honeymoon) and Tanzania, we wanted to use an African owned business. We were recommended to try African Hartebeest.
